The Spirit and Wonder of Popeye
By
A number of months ago I came across Popeye and his story on the internet. Popeye came from Taiwan, to California, as a little paralyzed puppy. He was fortunate enough to come into the home of his foster mom.
I kept up on Popeye’s story because I was and am amazed by this little guy’s spirit and ability to keep on going. I have been so touched by the people who love Popeye and by how much and at what lengths his foster mother will go to make sure Popeye can live a quality dog life. I am in awe that Popeye’s foster mom and the people in Taiwan cared so much about this little being that most would just ignore.
The Semillas de Amor blog is for our work in Guatemala and so you may wonder why I am posting information about a little dog from Taiwan that lives in California and needs surgery. The answer is simple. Our work at Semillas de Amor is all about love, kindness, and fighting the fight for those that cannot fight for themselves. Typically children and animals are the ones that need someone to be their voice. And so I found Popeye one day on the internet and I knew he had lots of people that care for him but now, now that he needs surgery, he needs more people to be his advocates and angels. For those who have dogs that they love, think about what it would be like to have a dog that needed surgery that you could not pay for? Popeye’s foster mom has fought long and hard for him. Let’s give her a little help and make sure Popeye gets his much deserved surgery. If we could all have the loving spirit of Popeye the world would be a far better place.
You can read Popeye’s story on his very own blog at Popeyethedog

Welcome to my glorious domain, where I reign alpha. I know, I know, what took me so long? Don’t blame me, I can’t reach the keyboard. I had to wait for my foster mum, who took her sweet ole time about it. Humans. No sense of priority.
Now that you’re here, come join me in my adventures while I wait for my Forever Home. |
