A Visit to the Zoo

The children at Semillas de Amor were treated to an exciting trip to La Aurora National Zoo in Guatemala City zoo by the Mazariegos/Girón family.  Our children’s home depends solely on donations to keep our children fed and thriving as well as paying our employees.  Almost 100% of our donations come from families outside of Guatemala.  It is always wonderful for our kids when Guatemalan families step up and contribute to their well being.  I believe it is important for our children to know that people from their own country care about them and it is not only people from outside Guatemala.  We saw the generosity at Christmas from Guatemalan families during our fundraising via the radio.  The need is great in Guatemala and there are so many projects to help.  So it is extra special when our kids are the recipients of the generosity of Guatemalan families.
The trip to the zoo started with a bus ride from the children’s home to Guatemala City. Â The kids were met with snacks before going into the zoo. Â Many animals later, lots of fun, laughter and very happy kids they were treated to pizza and ice cream. Â Full, excited and chattering away the kids boarded the bus to return to the children’s village. Â What a wonderful day for our kids.
