The Semillas de Amor Kids Pay it Forward!

Our children at Semillas de Amor are so fortunate. Because of the generosity of so many people our children don’t worry about where their next meal will come from, if they will have enough to eat, will they have the chance to study. We work very hard at fundraising in order to provide an environment for our children to thrive. We constantly worry that there won’t be enough money, but we use our donations responsibly. And we are so fortunate to have people who believe in our work.
This is our second year that the children at Semillas de Amor have had the opportunity to “Pay it Forward” to children less fortunate. Our children’s home is located in a rural area. The traffic is generally horses and cows passing by. There are many children who, rather than go to school, work in the fields and carry heavy loads of fire wood on their backs. All of these children suffer from chronic malnutrition. Their bodies and minds are slowly starving to death. During the year our children put away toys, stuffed animals, school supplies for our Christmas gift give away on December 23rd. They wrap gifts all year long. This year we also gave away toothbrushes and toothpaste and food.
It is important for children to learn to give back, to share and to have compassion for those less fortunate. When our kids “Pay it Forward” it truly is a high point in our Christmas celebration. The children who we are giving to have nothing. The chances are very good they would not receive any Christmas gifts if we weren’t giving. As you look at the photos of the children who received gifts please look carefully at their faces. It is sad because their futures are already written,poverty, suffering, illiteracy, too many children, abuse, violence. It is a tragedy. These are the children, in the future, that we hope to include in our school and change that, written in stone future, into a positive one.
