Semillas de Amor Sings!

The Semillas de Amor kids worked for several weeks practicing Christmas songs for our celebration Christmas Eve. They sang in both English and Spanish with Gaby playing piano and Daisy on guitar. I think we have a great musical group here and can already see us having small concerts in the near future. We hope you enjoy the songs and our talented kids and musicians We are already planning our music program for 2011! Move over Glee!
Radio Classica 106.5FM Food Drive for Semillas de Amor!

Last week our kids, with Luvia, went into Guatemala City three days. They had to be ready to be ON THE AIR at 7AM. The kids spoke to callers, sang songs and were interviewed by the radio talk show hosts. What a treat for our kids and quite an experience.
Saturday the radio station gave our kids a huge Christmas party and hundreds of Guatemalans brought food for the kids. Extreme poverty is so rampant in Guatemala and people still brought food. Some brought cart loads of food and others a bag of beans. It was wonderful for our children to see that the people in “their” country care about them. Families brought pizza for lunch and snacks and even the transportation of the kids to Guatemala City and the transportation of the food was donated.
What The Kids Have Been Up To!
Posted by: | CommentsThe last few months have been busy. Life is busy with 34 children but at Semillas de Amor we keep our kids extra busy and work 
as hard as we can to make sure our children have a family life. To avoid the institutionalization of children it is important for children to have a sense of family, have lots of stimulation and socialization and be loved by the people who care for them on a day to day basis.
Our Fall started out with a big Halloween celebration, click HERE to see a photo video show of our day, then a huge fundraiser in Northern California that brought in donations to help care for a children for several months and sponsors who will be their padrinos and/or madrinas (godparents) while the children grow. Click HERE for photos and other information on our fundraiser. Late October and early November is kite season in Guatemala. The kids made their own kites and then took them to the Hill of the Cross in Antigua to fly them.
