Celebrating our Amazing Teachers and our June Birthday Babies!
Posted by: | Comments
June 25th is officially TEACHER’S DAY in Guatemala. Semillas de Amor celebrated our teachers and our June birthdays on Friday the 24th. We had lots of food, cake, presents and beautiful handmade cards. Our kids have never bought a card (watch out Hallmark) only give handmade cards. That is true as well for Gaby who is almost 16. She would never think of buying a card. It is an act of love to make a very special card for the person you are honoring and celebrating. Happy teacher’s day to our amazing teachers, Lisbeth, Hugo, Alicia, Paola, Syliva and Luvia. We are so grateful to you for the wonderful work you do with our children everyday. Read More→
Semillas de Amor Sends out an SOS for Laptops!
Posted by: | CommentsThe kids at Semillas de Amor are in need of gently used and new laptop computers. We have a few computers but just not enough for the kids to use even when they are sharing computers. We love Apple and have a couple of Macs and have one desktop PC, so we are open to either Apple or PCs. The kids are really into learning games on the computer as well as researching information. They don’t quite understand that all the fun with the computers is actually “work”. If you have a gently used laptop you would like to gift us please send me an email at nancy@semillasdeamor.org and I can give you and address on where to send it.
Thank you and thank you so much for thinking of our kids!

Futuro de los Niños Raises Funds for Semillas de Amor to “Go Green”
Posted by: | Comments
Our friends at Futuro de los Niños raised over $3000.00 to help Semillas de Amor “go green”. With this funding we have been able to buy the very tall poles we need to install our solar lamps. The solar lamps will not only provide lighting but will provide us security at night. We were able to build our new worm hotel and purchase worms. We are expecting our worms any day now. We were able to build a compost area for our food and paper waste, stock up on sawdust, to keep the chicken coop clean and warm, and buy extra chicken food. We have been wanting, for quite some time, to change our lighting from regular bulbs to LED but LED is expensive. Read More→
