The Guatemala900 Marches on Washington DC
Posted by: | CommentsToday, May 6th, 2010, the Guatemala900 marched on Washington DC to, once again, to bring awareness to our elected officials of the plight of the more than 600 children left behind in Guatemala after adoptions closed almost 2 1/2 years ago. The children left behind were not new adoption cases but children who have adoptive parents and who had been promised to be “grandfathered” into the old adoption system and allowed to finish their adoptions. That did not happen and children have been left in institutions, foster care and some families do not even know where their children are. Many are not allowed to see their children. This is a tragedy and has gone on far too long. These children are being use as political pawns and treated as criminals. We must bring an awareness to not only the United States government but to the Guatemalan government as well. These children must be allowed to go home. What is happening is cruel to not only the children but their families as well. These families have been living a nightmare.

Toy Raiser for Semillas de Amor

If you are reading this I am sure you, like me, hold Semillas de Amor very close to your heart. Many of your lives would not be the same if it weren’t for Semillas de Amor. I know mine wouldn’t be. I thank God every day for the wonderful child I call my son. And I believe he is who he is, in part, by the love and care he received while at Semillas de Amor.
Right now there are 34 other children at Semillas de Amor getting the same love and support. They have a beautiful new facility. But they need OUR love and support, too. One way we can show our support is by providing them with some great new toys – Discovery Toys. Discovery Toys are amazing – they teach; they inspire, but to kids, they are just plain FUN!! And they are guaranteed for life – that will mean a lot to Semillas de Amor in the future!!
There are three ways you can make a difference in this ‘Toy Raiser’.
1. You can buy toys for Semillas de Amor from their wish list.
2. You can buy toys for yourself, your kids or anyone else you might know. *
3. OR you can buy toys for Semillas de Amor AND yourself!!
It is really that simple. All the toys purchased during this Toy Raiser (whether for Semillas de Amor’s or for yourself) will allow Semillas de Amor to get more FREE TOYS for the children!!! I have the wish list for Semillas de Amor or you can write to Semillas de Amor directly and get their list of toys they would like for the children. Please note that this Toy Raiser is not a tax deductible donation to Seeds of Love.
AND if $500 worth of toys are purchased for this Toy Raiser before April 29th, Semillas de Amor will get an ADDITIONAL $50 of FREE TOYS!!! Plus, every $50 toy order (by April 29th) will get a free book!! (There will be a new special in May.)
How it works:

- IMPORTANT: Do NOT place an order on the website.
- After you have determined what you want for Semillas de Amor or yourself, send me an email (amy_poirier@hotmail.com).
- In the subject line write: Semillas de Amor Toy Raiser
- In the body of the email, include your contact information, the toy name, the item number, the quantity you want, payment information and if the toy is for you or for Semillas de Amor.
- If the order is eligible for a free book, please let me know which of the following you would like: Animal Baby, The Potty Train, What Dinosaur Am I, What Insect Am I, What Ocean Am I, What Animal Am I or One Odd Old Owl.
- I will respond to your email within one day, to let you know I have received your order. If you do not get a response from me, please resend your email.

On April 29th, I will submit the first order and Nancy Bailey will determine what products she wants for FREE, based on how much you have ordered. The products for Semillas de Amor will be shipped to their address in California and your products will be shipped to you. Updates will be shared on the toys Semillas de Amor has received up to that point. And the new specials will be posted as well as a close date for the Toy Raiser.
